Our new Meiklejohn website and registration process has made a tremendous impact on our PTA! The registration process is simplified and ready to role as soon as parents fill out the online form. By putting laptops out at registration, we no longer have to transfer hand written forms, which can be hard to read and take hours to type in a spreadsheet. Within minutes of registration being completed, we were able to send out emails to those who registered for PTA. We can sort the database and see who wants to be a volunteer! We keep the form up on the website for those who were not at registration or that are new to the school, enabling people to register for PTA continuously throughout the year!

We are also now able to communicate with parents in multiple, electronic formats. We are able to send weekly emails to our database generated via online registration. Mr. Sampson has setup the website to RSS (subscribe) or to receive Tweets from Twitter. It is now a 21st century communication forum, allowing our PTA to communicate with the membership by whatever means works best for the member.

Our website also is a great place to get information about what’s going on with the PTA. Our committee chair people have been able to post what is going on with their committees. Our After School Enrichment program is now online. Parents can download the course syllabus, link directly to a registration site and pay for the classes online. Our Spirit wear store is also linked to this website. Parents, grandparents or anyone wanting Spirit wear can go directly to our website to shop for apparel. Any form that parents might need for PTA (registration, reimbursement, building use, etc) can also be found on our website.

The website has provided equal access to information for parents and has cut down our turnaround time on just about everything. It has facilitated the whole community (businesses, parents, and teachers) coming together to work as a team.
