Setting up the Google Doc Embedder Plugin
The Google Doc Embedder Plugin is preinstalled on all Basic, Premium and Premium Plus Websites. This plugin allows you to display a PDF document (newsletters etc) directly on your website. It is extremely simple to use. You will upload your document to the website, then simply add a small piece of code and your document is ready to go.
If you are experiencing any issues with embedding documents, please de-activate your Google Doc Embedder Plug In and the Re-Activate it. This should solve the problem.
How to Use the Plugin
If you would like to embed a document directly into your website like a PTA Newsletter, etc, it is very simple to do. The code to embed a document is as follows:
[ gview file=”http://full-path.to/file.pdf” ]
! Note: Please remove extra spacing around brackets – this is for display purposes only.
Step 2: Click SELECT FILES to locate the PDF on your computer
Select the Color that works best for your theme in the drop down list.
Step 3: Copy the URL (address) of the File
Once your document has been uploaded, COPY the FILE URL listed at the bottom of the page.
Step 4: Paste the Code
Head to the Page or New Post you want to embed your document and type in the following code:
[ gview file=”PASTE THE URL HERE” ]
(please note that there should not be spaces before and after the [ & ] symbols.)
Be sure to publish your page and you are all done.
Click GDE SETTINGS in the Setting Menu to Edit
The Google Document Settings should be just fine set as they are, but if you do wish you change the settings, they can be found in the Settings Menu under the GDE SETTINGS link. If you are having any issues with your documents displaying correctly, please ensure that your Viewer Selection is set to GOOGLE STANDARD VIEWER and not the Enhanced Viewer.
